CORPORATE CUSTODIAN

REGULAR FULL TIME - $20.00-24.00/HR

SHIFTS: MONDAY-FRIDAY (BUSINESS OFFICE HOURS) - MUST BE AVAILABLE EARLY MORNINGS

POSITION SUMMARY

Corporate Custodian is responsible for performing a wide range of duties and tasks that support the overall cleanliness and maintenance of the buildings, warehouse, and grounds. Duties will vary throughout the day and the ability to prioritize tasks, communicate effectively, and support the needs of the departments is key to being successful in this position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform indoor and outdoor janitorial duties
• Demonstrate adequate aptitude to use approved cleaning supplies and cleaning equipment 
• Stock employee bathroom supplies and replenish department cleaning supplies
• Collect and dispose of garbage, compost, recycling
• Basic maintenance skills to make minor repairs or unclog drains and toilets when needed
• Ability to troubleshoot minor plumbing issues and perform minor repairs
• Ability to respond to emergency situations and work alternate shifts when required
• Maintain highest standard of grounds cleanliness and order; including but not limited to, sweeping driveways, parking areas, walkways, sidewalks and loading dock.
• Collect trash, debris and stage waste material for removal.
• Perform grounds maintenance such as leaf blowing and raking, mulch replacement, pruning shrubs, mowing grass and open space areas. Water landscaping as needed.
• Ensure all outdoor furniture is clean, and wash when necessary, including light fixtures and fence railings.
• Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment used such as lawn mowers, weed-eaters and leaf blowers.
• Other duties may be assigned as needed.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum of 1 year experience in basic janitorial and grounds keeping duties
• Ability to work independently
• A positive attitude, pleasant personality
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Punctual and dependable
• Strong attention to detail
• Must be able to work under deadline pressure
• Proactive in addressing problems and prioritizing workload
• Ability to take initiative to seek out work
• Exercise sound judgement in response to operational problems
• Clean and maintain janitorial tools as necessary
• Ability to safely use standard yard maintenance and cleaning tools

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES

• High School Diploma or general education degree (GED).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT -  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is:

• Regularly required to stand, walk, squat, reach and kneel. 
• Frequently talk, continuously see, and hear. 
• Reach with both hands and arms above and below the shoulder. 
• Occasionally required to sit, climb, or crawl. 
• Able to frequently bend and twist at waist and neck.
• Occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pound items and regularly lift and carry up to 20 pound items.
• Able to tolerate repetitive reaching, handling, grasping, pushing, pulling, gripping and manipulation of hands and fingers in order to perform job duties.
• Able to tolerate intermittent noise from warehouse machinery and gardening equipment.
• Able to work around heavy equipment and machinery such as but not limited to: a forklift, pallet jack, electric lift, woodworking machinery and large trucks 
• Able to tolerate moderate amounts of dust and chemical fumes from common household cleaning agents. 
• Able to occasionally tolerate temperature changes outdoors and while in the warehouse.
