Test Engineer needed contract to direct- Sterling Heights, MI
A Test Engineer designs, develops, and executes tests to ensure product quality, functionality, and reliability, identifying and reporting defects to improve designs and meet quality standards. Key responsibilities include creating test plans and cases, performing manual and automated tests on software, hardware, or mechanical/electrical systems, and collaborating with design and production teams. A bachelor's degree in a relevant field like computer science or engineering is typically required, along with strong analytical skills and experience with testing tools.
What a Test Engineer does
Designs and plans testing:
Develops comprehensive test plans that outline scope, objectives, and resources, creating test cases and procedures for various products and systems.
Executes tests:
Conducts manual and automated tests on software, hardware, and mechanical or electrical systems to assess their performance and quality.
Identifies and reports defects:
Analyzes test results to find malfunctions, bugs, or other issues, documenting findings and providing detailed reports to development teams.
Collaborates with teams:
Works closely with design, development, and production teams to understand product requirements, troubleshoot issues, and suggest improvements to product design.
Ensures quality standards:
Verifies that products meet the company's quality standards for functionality, safety, durability, and reliability.
Develops testing methodologies:
Creates and maintains standardized, repeatable testing processes to effectively uncover errors.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Education:
A bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field is typically required.
Analytical skills:
Strong analytical and precision skills are essential for evaluating products and identifying areas for improvement.
Technical proficiency:
Experience with testing tools, bug tracking systems, and both manual and automated testing procedures is crucial.
