Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Schedule: Monday Friday | 7.5 hours/day

About the Role

We are hiring a Microbiologist / Molecular Biologist with strong experience in RNA extraction, qPCR, and PCR molecular testing. This role focuses on wastewater and environmental sample testing for SARS-CoV-2 and other public health targets, supporting high-impact laboratory analysis and reporting.

This position is ideal for professionals with hands-on molecular diagnostics, environmental microbiology, or public health laboratory experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform wastewater sample processing, concentration, and analysis
• Conduct RNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, and RT-qPCR testing
• Analyze, validate, and interpret molecular testing results
• Maintain laboratory documentation, sample logs, and test records
• Perform quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) checks
• Ensure compliance with laboratory safety, SOPs, and best practices
• Assist in compiling laboratory data and preparing analytical reports
• Evaluate and support implementation of new laboratory methods and reagents

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor s degree (B.S. or B.A.) in Biology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, or related field
• 2+ years of experience in RNA extraction and qPCR / PCR testing
• Strong knowledge of molecular biology techniques and workflows
• Hands-on experience with molecular laboratory equipment
• Understanding of laboratory quality systems and safety procedures
• Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with environmental microbiology or wastewater testing
• Experience with SARS-CoV-2, viral RNA, or infectious disease testing
• Familiarity with proficiency testing programs
• Experience in regulated laboratory environments
